OK I haven’t seen the Tamil version of this movie so this review will be based on the current Hindi Ghajni.
The story is about a business tycoon Sanjay Singhania (Amir Khan) who falls in love with a model kalpana. Kalpana (Asin).Sanjay hides the fact that he is a rich business man and meets her as a normal ordinary person. Kalpana also falls in love with him, Kalpana then gets murdered by a goons for getting in their way.
Sanjay comes home to find Kalpana killed.Sanjay then gets hit brutally by a metal rod, which makes him suffer from Short term memory loss. Sanjay now has to to live like a hell, he has to tatoo his body in order to remind him everytime he forgets anything, and take photos.
Aamir Khan played both his character’s really well with great intensity and his acting was flawless. He carries the two extreme characters with such ease. His character has many layers and dimension, such as a Business Tycoon, the lover, quite businessman to man suffering from short term memory loss and the pain he goes through, he handles all these part of the character brilliantly.
Asin was simply brilliant and very nearly steals the show from the lead actor Amir. Asin seems to have graduated from the Sridevi School of Acting, the similairty is clearly there: the hyper vivacity, tye bubbly-ness, the Spontaneity that Sridevi had and the many different facial facial expressions.
Then the death scene was so intensely performed, the way she showed how frightened she was, and then the dying scene and her dialogue delivery was 10/10.
The Action scene was a let down, though not the fault of Amir, but the director has used Rajnikaant south style action just to cater for south audience. Amir does perform convincingly in the scenes where he is desperate to seek out revenge, but the fighting was a bit silly.
The film is a must watch for Amir Khan’s performance and Asin’s natural good acting and for the entertainment.
