I bought Gilma chimney and stove from their Marthalli outlet about a year and half back. While the product was already over-priced(23000 for the chimney and stove), I had to spend nearly 15000 to get it fit into my kitchen. Fitting a chimney requires a lot more than the sales guy at store would tell you.
First of all youve to get a couple of big holes in a few walls to get the chimney pipe starting from your kitchen to outside your house. Number of holes/walls depend on architecture of your house - mainly position of kitchen in the house w.r.t. to the provision of chimney pipe provided by your builder in the apartment. Drilling these holes is expensive and messy and youve to call and follow up with people who do the drilling.
Secondly, youve to fit the pipe starting from chimney till outside your house. Fitting the pipe is easy but you need to spend extra money to purchase it. The one provided by Gilma is tiny and useless. Then youve to spend hell lot of money to hide the pipe - by doing POP or anything else - otherwise it spoils the looks of kitchen. Another few thousand bucks!
Now for the chimney, it looks good in the kitchen but is not very powerful when it comes to su*king the actual smoke, oil. Even when used at full speed, smoke enters everywhere in the house. So much for the price and its utility.
The steel gets dirty after sometime and requires some special cleaning. Our chmineys light bulb was fused within a few weeks and its been over a year since we have been following up with Gilma poeple to fix it. We are even ready to pay for it though it busted during warranty period. Their service personal once came to our house to fix it once but guess what - he did not have necessary buld/spare part to replace it! The same old story of calling them continues thereafter and they have not bothered to return with the bulb. It has become a beauty without bulb.
