Well, I finally got around to seeing Girl Interrupted.
Im not much of a movie goer, I usually wait until movies are on one of the premium TV channels before I get to see it.
The movie is advertised as starring Winona Ryder and Co-starring Angelina Jolie. Somebody sure got that confused! Angelina Jolie, steals the entire movie with her superb portrayal of a lifelong mental patient. Winona Ryder comes in a distant second, with her wooden(as usual) performance as, Charlotte, a mixed up teenager, who, in a depressed mood downs a bottle of aspirin followed by a bottle of vodka(I wonder if it was Smirnoff? heh heh).
The movie shows how Lisa(Jolie) uses her manipulative skills as the leader of the ward they are in. Shes rough and tough, yet deep down, all she wants is love and understanding and acceptance. She takes Charlotte(Ryder) under her wing, to show her the ropes of institution living.
The story basically unfolds the story of 1 group of girls, in 1 ward. It briefly touches on the lives of the other girls, only deep enough to pull the story together beautifully.
Director, James Mangold brings each character to life in a way you will not soon forget.
This is in my opinion a 2 handkerchief, female flick, though Im sure most men seeing it wont mind watching Jolie for a couple of hours.:::wink wink:::
