Option to buy with or without Lid & with or without Auto Ignition
I purchased this cooktop (without lid) in Dec 2003 after surveying the market for similar products. It was among the costliest product available for the Two Burner Option.
Being a MNC, I was expecting a quality product from GLEN but my enthusiasm was short lived as I found out.
The front panel plate behind regulators is not aligned with body. Its tilted on one side so it gives local look for the product.
The indication provided for SIM/ON/OFF on the regulator disappeared in 15 days. No Symbol is embossed. I always struggle to find the SIM side now & end up in turning OFF the regulator often.
The company claims that the Triple Ring Burner takes less time for cooking. Its not true, you end up with same time. Instead, you can end up cooking your hand if you arent careful in operating TR. Its extremely powerful and starts up with a blowup.
Auto Ignition is hard to operate. It became harder with passing months. There is no smoothness in operating it.
The quality of burners top cover and the square shaped stand to hold small utensils is dismal (Very bad finish). Only one stand is provided, usually there are two.
The stand (around the burner, on which we put utensils) is very thing & of extended arm type. One of these stands has got manufacturing defect and it keeps shaking. It becomes extremely hard if you are cooking chapati/roti on a shaking stand. Otherwise also it doesnt hold the utensils properly. I strongly recommend not to buy gas stoves with these kind of stands. (Thin Extended Arm / Street Light Shaped four arms / Inverted L shaped)
The body of cooktop and the stand for utensils become very hot in summer. It becomes so hot that you could get boils if you accidentally touch it. I havent seen anything like this before.
The gas tube nozzle is provided at back, if you are low on space, it will affect you. If you replace the gas tube on your own, you will found out that its extremely hard to put rubber hose onto the nozzle located at back. Its quite easy if the nozzle is on left or right side.
My mother is extremely disappointed with this product. (The most important point)
Some good things: Easy to clean, easily removable burner parts, adjustable feet, slim type body, very less height, battery provided for Auto Ignition. Shape Type (===) Curved from both sides, I hope you will understand the diagram.
I would recommend NOT to go for these things:
Auto Ignition or check by operating the gas at least a few times before buying.
Cooktop with thin extended arm type stand. Check out any type by placing a utensil.
Triple Ring Burner (Buy if your family is big and you often cook in big utensils)
If possible, dont buy with nozzle at back of cooktop (Check out the location for cooktop in your kitchen first)
You may find my review discouraging if you are going for GLEN but you always have the final choice.
