A Nightmare

This is my account of what happened on the evening of 26th January 2010 at the Delhi Airport. The airline sent messages to all its passengers to be at the airport 3 hours in advance because of the R-Day security. I was on the flight from Delhi-Bangalore and there were two other flights of Go-Air headed to Mumbai. These were scheduled to leave around 9-10. Around 9, passengers got to know the first signs of trouble brewing. The flight officials kept announcing the delay of the flights till 11:30 pm, when they stunned around 200 passengers by announcing simultaneous cancellations of all 3 flights. What ensued was total chaos with passengers at the top of their voices.

Finally at around 1, after threats of calls to the media the officials agreed to reschedule the flights the next morning. Passengers had to further fight for basic amenities like food and water which again were limited at the airport kiosk. I personally had to spend 14 hours at the airport without proper food and proper place to sleep. One passenger rightly commented at the airport that GoAir is treating us like dogs. These guys do not have basic courtesy and have no contingency planning of any sort. Imagine my feelings when I could hear flights from other airlines take to the skies in the dense fog but mine was grounded because of the same dreaded fog. I flew a budget airline for the first time and can only confirm that If you pay peanuts you will get monkeys.

Pathetic is the word!
