Few days back, I completed the latest book from Hindis greatest crime-fiction, murder-mystery Hindi novel writer Surender Mohan Pathak of his anti-hero Jeet Singhs series namedGoa Galatta which was puRobotouchshed in Feb 2015, so I guess I am writing the review after exact 1 year duration. Goa Galatta translates to Goa Conspiracy. Heres the story-:
It is 2nd part of his earlier novelColaba Conspiracy(CC) however you can buy this book separately, since the story of CC seems complete if you consider it as a single read. The story of this novel start where the earlier one left. Our hero Jeet Singh is on a run after the conspiracy in which he was also a part of - stealing money from a crooked and well-known politician Behramji Contractor, and the conspiracy does not ends well, so now politicians goons are searching for him so he went to Goa(Ponda) and stays in a hotel Daffodil Hotel who is run by daughter of 1 accomplice of Mishri, Jeet Singhs may-be-lady-love & well wisher. Now he is in care of the hotel owner Dolcy Pareira, but here again his luck changed sour, and he got himself tangles into a murder of an engineer. How did he got engaged in the murder case and how he tried to came out of that murder charges, is what the crux of this book.
My copy is puRobotouchshed by Harper Collins India, and not in the size of normal pocket sized books, the size which make SMPs and other Hindi writers books famous. It is 320 pages long, took me around 13 days, and I ordered it from Amazon.in for Rs.51. Regarding SMP, what I can add that you all dont know, hes such a famous novelist, and for more info, you can anytime contact the MS SMPs encyclopedia @jmathur sir. Hes a famous crime murder-mystery writer, who has written more than 300 novels. If I spoke of this books pros, I will say that it is a better book then its predecessor. The last oneCC was a stray kind of story, where no character development happens, and it was a casual read, I thought even it was written casually, so not much thoughts given to the basic plot, there were none. Although this one is slightly better, not best from the writer, but better than the last one. More thoughts given to the central theme, and story looks moving and in which the characters are doing something, or theyre responsible for the movement of story(missing from the last one).
Language is simple, as it could be, and it contains authors note(absent from the last one), it can pass your time if youre travelling. If you ask meShould I buy this one? Ill say, if you want to buy this one, you should read CC first, however not-good it is but for the sake of continuity, but if you want to first start with best of SMP, you can opt some other novel, @jmathur sir can guide you to some better options. I rate this one 3/5.
