After being to Goa number of times , This I had to write .. so here it goes
Modes of travel
AirFare - Mumbai to Goa - 2600 onwards
RailFare - Mumbai to Madgaon - 850 (3tier AC)
Sleeper coach - Borivali to Panjim - 750
Accommodation
Can be availed from Rs 500 per night to 15000 per night .
When I had gone to Goa with friends (i was student of MBA then) had shared a hotel room with friend for 800 bucks for 2 days . It is in Panjim market near the talkies(cant recall the name.
Hotel Goa International near Tonca costed 500 bucks in off season(july) . It is hotel with basic hygiene . Has a restaurant . Location is very good as it is close to Dona paula and panjim city.
Dukes villa is very close to Goa Marriott . It costed around 2500 for furnished apartment with nice kitchen. You can get stuff and cook in the room. Has lovely balcony. People are very nice .( Managed by a family of a sailor I guess ). Only problem is they dont have kitchen/ restaurant. Recommended if u r going with family.
Travelling in Goa is very easy rent a bike for 200 bucks and buzz off. Petrol can be availed from Roadside vendors selling it in Bislery bottles for 60 / litre. (i guess its against the law) . Public transport will be shut by 8 in the evening. so venturing at nights is to be done in private vehicles.
Food
It has amazing sea food variety. Many places have own speciality . Try and avoid going to the places where firangs are seating. Probability of u being attended will be lesser ( Indians r bad tippers , is what they say). Rates are not exorbitant (may be because if u r from Mumbai , u feel its less than home town rates.) Lavish Sea Food meal for nine costed 3300 at Sessa Lobo near Kalangute beach.
Kalangute / Baga beach has Candle lite dinner by the sea almost every evening by the respective shanti owners , It will cost around 500 - 750 bucks for nice sizzelers + salad + a pint of Beer . Holding partners hand , Gazing at stars with waves almost touching your feet , its Worth a experience .
Activity
Apart from normal sight seeing , try Snorkelling / scuba diving costs around 2000 for a dive. Banana ride / parasailing wil cost 400 ride ( they ask for 800 - 1000 bucks , nego for it)
Water scooter ride for 10 min costs 200 bucks.
During off season always try to bargain the rates.
Visit Dudhsagar Falls. Before going to new place , always confirm with the hotel reception about the place.
Pubbing at Titto / coba cabbana is advisable if you want the quality and are with family / spouse . Most of the so called discs will charge you 350 - 500 cover charges and u get absolutely nothing inside. Avoid that . Some so called disc are actually acting like pick up joints and are raided by police. When last time we only guys (9 of us)had gone , a guy approached us with Invitation to Rave party on the mountain top . After lot of confrontation and almost half an hour of driving in the jungle , we decided to quit the plan (thankfully) . Next morning got the news of police raid due to abuse on girl , . Pheww PLS AVOID any invitation from unknown guys.
During Monsoon ( june - sept) water sports are closed.
Anything left will be covered soon.
Happy holidaying
cheers
PS : Do not drink and drive , have seen many casualties . Enjoy nature and be responsible towards it
