God of Small Things- The big book

The book beautifully presents the story of a young divorced lady and her two kids. Though the book is moored in a typical south Indian village, the emotions portrayed are universal in their approach. The basic human qualities of pain, love, anger and sensuality could not have been presented in a better way. The only book that comes close in matching the intensity of this masterpiece is perhaps- To Kill a mocking bird. In short, if you are a voracious reader, who enjoys quality work - go for it without second thoughts. However, if you like easy reading, lots of twists and turns - this one is not for you.

Gist: This book is not a piece of cake, but definitely worth every second you spend reading it.
