I was waiting to watch the sequel ever since I read the book and saw the 1st movie. Atlast after about a year of watching the first one I found it at my local Movie Library. Truly the godfather series in itself is Masterpiece and a must watch for everyone who loves his family and I bet everyone can relate to a character in this EPIC tale. Coppola is Back With A Sequel to the Godfather Tale This Time With A storyline which simultaneously tells you the story of a Father (Don Vito Corleone---The Godfather) and his Son (Micheal Corleone---The New Don).
Here goes my review.......
The Rise of Don Vito ( Robert De Niro) through the barren lands of the italian village ’Corleone’ where his family is murdered , to the tough neighbourhoods of ’Hell’s Kitchen’ making his way through hoodlums and insane small-time mobsters.This is where he finds his Capo’s Salvatore ’Sal’ Tessio and Peter ’Fat’ Clemenza and his counsigliere Genco Abbandando with whom he starts his Olive oil business. But first he has to make his ’BONES’.So he Murders the Dreaded and Feared local Hood and Gets his respect and earns the Title of ’Godfather’.
When he’s established as a respected and feared don of New York, he returns to his village to avenge his family’s death............
On the other hand ....almost three decades later his son Micheal Corleone (Al Pacino) is now the DON and controls the Corleone family.Hymen Roth who pretends to be a father figure to Micheal actually attempts To get Micheal Assassinated with a liitle help from Micheal’s Brother Freddo. Mike survives but seeks his revenge.
’Franky’ Pentangeli now controls The Late Clemenza’s Gang is sore on Mike because he feels Mike tried to wipe him out, whereas the fact is Hymen set the whole thing to curb Micheal.Franky and his Soldier William ’Willi’ Cicci turn approvers in court but later Fracky changes his statement for the fear of his brother’s life.
When Mike comes to know that Freddo betrayed him, he decides that he would punish Him ....but only after his mother dies.....
The scene where Connie (his sister) pleads him to take Freddo back into the house and forgive him...and Mike hugging Freddo....and looking over at Al Neri (his Bodygaurd)...Al knowing that know Freddo is in because he’s gonna be killed, is the best scene according to me.
In the true Godfather fashion., Mike gets Hymen Killed(It cost him the life of His Most trusted BodyGaurd--Rocco Lompone), Together with franky commiting suicide in the FBI prison.
But the worst part of all.....He gets his Brother Freddo Killed...which Haunts him all his life............
