First thing I realizied when I was reading this book was that most of the indian films have got their inspiration from this film.........
May be the word don would have become very famous only after this book got released in india....
the author has complete command over the readers mind...the book is captivating...
Vita Corleone the central character...the don...the godfather....
His character is potrayed splendidly.........I liked the part when micheal corleone shifts him in the hospital and tells vita corlene not to be afraid and people r trying to kill him his reply in the near death bed is’’ why should I fear ...they are trying to kill me since I was 12’’....thats the only line which speaks of his character...his will ...his determination......
Sonny the eldest son of vita....is jus the perfect angry young man...his character is also very well built....
The scene where don goes to the undertaker ....asking him repay the help he has done is really emotional scene.......
Micheal corleone is other major character ...the last son of the don....infact the next don......his transition from the outsider to the member of the family just for the sake of his father is very well written by the author.....
The moves he takes once he becomes the don is really awesome .....its beautifully potrayed in the book......
And the suprise package is the character luca brasi.....his name will be found in every chapter of the book...but he comes only in 2 scenes ...and getting killed in the second one.......he will be described as an epitome for ruthelessness and cruelty....
If I had point some flaws...then it is goin to be the part involving...jhonny forntane, nino valentino, sonny’s girlfreind, and the doctor.....they r jus some uselless chapter with them in the book.....
But it is the best book I read so far......may be first amoung equals the book by jeffry archer can match it....but it is excellent book.....hats off to mario puzo!
