I am an unfortunate man who had to buy a Godrej refrigerator 230LTR ULTRA IN 1997 for Rs 14, 000/-. I had used 3 Refrigerators in India, the first two being Italian made. The first one was used for 15 years and I sold it off foolishly, because I got a new one.
The second one lasted only 5 years but it had no warranty because it was bought abroad. When I had to buy a third one I thought of buying an Indian brand. Perhaps Godrej is the only Indian brand. I bought one Godrej from Malieakal Electronics, Kollam.
Immediately on delivery I found the freezer door defective. I pointed it out to the technicial accompanied it. He simply said it is manufactured like that. I told him to take it back. He demanded cartage Rs300/- to take back. (I paid cartage to bring it home).
Next day I reported the matter to the owner of the shop. He was not very helpful. I also found water on the outside of the top of the fridge. The shopkeeper’s reply was that the whole batch was defectively manufactured.
He would replace the defective part if I pay for the labor and cartage. I had to shell out Rs2000/-.. Soon the deffect reappeared causing another expense of Rs2000/-. It was never repaired properly. I gave up repairs. It was an expensive proposition. In two years it started rusting.
Now the cover is almost completely rusted. Now I am looking for a new one. I am consulting friends who are using other brands. I write this to warn your prospective customersabout the fate waiting for them. Please publish this on your website. Will you?
