Dream wash nightmare service

We have been used to the ’’luxury’’ of getting our clothes washed by the household maid for many years so the need for a washing machine was never felt. However, when we came to Bangalore last Feb the maids here demanded shocking amounts of money for this job.


Finally, we gave up and decided to buy an automatic washing machine [once you get a machine, you don’t like the idea of transfering wet clothes from wash tub to spin tub and all that jazz]. After comparing all brands, we zeroed on to Godrej GDF 1201 NT and bought this one from the Godrej office on Kasturba road. They took about 3-4 days for delivery.


I installed the machine myself instead of waiting for the Godrej technician to turn up.


Just had to buy one tap. Operating this machine is pretty simple and it boasts of fuzzy logic and overflow rinse [extra rinse cycle] as well. My wife is quite happy with this new independence from maids and I am satisfied with the wash quality.


However, 3 months after purchase, the machine stopped operating and I complained to the call center [the Godrej sales office is of no use here] on 23 November. I was told that someone would come within 24 hours. Inspite of several reminders, no one tuned up for more than 2 months!!


Finally, I lost my cool and called up John Gerard, the service manager on 6 Feb and explained the situation. [His no. is 9986065990 in case other Bangaloreans need some help]. The problem has got rectified on 7 Feb and luckily the warranty is on. The replaced panel would have otherwise cost me Rs 3000.


For now, I’m keeping my fingers crossed!
