We had a godrej fridge since 1987. It was the 165 litres model. I had never seen it go down. So I belived that the Godrej manufactures refrigerators of great quality. That fridge was exchanged last year just because my mom felt it was too old(it was 21 year old:-)), when she gave it away it was still working.
So I had a misconception that all the Godrej refridgerators were made solid untill I bought one three years ago.
I bought this useless pentacle. It had the same features which was given 20 years back minus the robustness which was there 20 years ago. I did not have any problems for the first two years.
It usually covers the freezer with ice[ I seriously dont know what is the frost free feature they talk about], so I had pressed defrost button, after that the fridge went dead. I thought it was in the process of defrosting for the first few hours after that when the food turned bad, I realized that it didnt work. So I called up the customer care and asked them to send some one to fix it.
A guy came and fixed it and charged me with 650 saying that thermostat was damaged. This happened on October.Again this January, my wife and kid were not at home, so I had stocked up the fridge heavily with fruits, ice creams and other junk/snacks stuff.
When I came back from office, I could see a fleet of ants marching in and out of my fridge. Then I realized that it went down again. The ice cream was just cream now, it had spoiled my freezer and chiller.
This time was more challenging than the last time I had to consume all the stuff before they go bad single handy. I started having fruits almost two days, on the third day I gave up.Again I called up the support and they sent another guy this time, but he said the thermostat was not working again. This time also he charged me.
While talking to a few of my team-mates last week I found out that I was not alone. A couple of them also had the same issues. The funny part is that all of them bought Godrej based out of the past track record of the fridge bought by their parents.
Now be sure that history never repeats with Godrej.
