This is the experience in 2 places : Rajouri Garden and ambience Mall.
I am a south Indian ( You will know later why it matters !).
I went to Rajouri Garden restaurant on 6th Oct at 8:30 pm. wanted a table for four and was given one. at the door. The table was full when plates and glasses were placed. Such a small table, we did not know where will he keep the sizzler..
When somebody opens door they can end up kicking this table.....Greed to earn money of this hotelier makes ignore customers need for reasonable comfort and rationality of space..
I protested and wanted to be given a better table, waiters and managers gave me a stinking look. the behavior made me feel almost that this treatment is because of my south Indian accent and looks ( which I am proud of of course !)...The comments were very bad and ranged till " hum to appko accommodate karke help kar rahe hain...nahi to bahar jayiye aur 40 minute wait keejiye..."
I got up from there and headed towards ambiance mall asap....
I reached Gola sizzlers at Ambience mall around 9:20 and waited for my turn till 9:45...
There was nobody at the gate the booking/reservation desk was empty....
Inside a man in turban and blue shirt when asked about the table , said "nahi ji koi table nahin hain".
I was seeing people walking abruptly and occupying tables . No system of calling out names existed.The people in turban went straight in and occupied tables with their families.
I followed suit. One person in denim and t shirt came out of no where and prompted " How can I help you". I told him that I am waiting for a table for four. He told me " please come out and wait . We have people waiting from long time". I tried to convince him that I was also waiting from long time. He said " Hum ko sab pata hain, " > I asked him to show me the list .....only to be told " I dont have to show it to you" ...I was shown another gentleman whose turn it was to occupy the tables. I saw this person come almost 10 minutes after I came in !!!....
Things were clear ....the attitude of the gentleman left much to be desired and stinked of racist approach....Was shocked to see a restaurant discriminating its customers...!!!
My message to gola....
People put self esteem above your taste
Any business has accountability to customers. (you cant say I dont have to show it to you")
Racial discrimination is an offence, , , ,
