Last year, I gifted myself a year full membership of Golds gym in Rohini Sector - 3, near Kali Mandir, New Delhi. I was asked to pay Rs 30, 000 for annual membership. My friend who used to go to Golds gym in Karol Bagh bough the same annual membership for just Rs 15000. When I said the same to the receptionist, she relented and sold the membership for Rs 16000+ extra charge for using credit card.
I was told I would be given full time trainers support and free diet plan to meet my fitness goal. Happy, I decided to buy the membership from this prestigious fitness retail chain in India.
However, what happened in the days that follow was very disgusting. The gym is very small. They have 5-6 trainers posted in the premises. Out of these, only 2-3 will be providing personal assistance to their clients while others are just standing and looking others. If you approach them for help, they would sell the benefits of keeping a personal trainer. If you refuse, they would not help you at all.
The gym is highly over-crowded. In the morning, you can not even get hold of one treadmill to start your cardio exercise. Most of the gym equipments are " highjacked" by other gym members. I remember one instance when a member was hit a barbell unintentionally by other. Special thanks to Golds gym management which sold membership without even thinking there gym is getting over-crowded
