Mindless colourful fun action unlimited is Golmaal3. From Scene one to Final scene it is a joy ride. Every stone is turned to assure success for the film and it shows. It is a sure shot for mindless comedy lovers and when it is with Diwali, the joy is doubled.
It is correct to say that it is a story of two orphanages. One hosted by Pritam (Not the music director, but the Bengal tiger, Mithun Chakraborthy) and Geeta (Ratna Pathak). With Mithun Gang is Tushar Kapoor, Arshad warsi and Kunal Kemu. Geeta Gang comprises of Ajay Devgan, Shreyas Telpande & Kareena Kapoor. Both orphanages (Dont take it in word meaning, but assume they are houses) are facing bankruptcy and local goonds are after their blood. It turns out that Pritam and Geeta were old lovers and the story takes a new turn where Daboo (Kareena) tries to turn their love to marriage. Now there is amalgamation of orphanages and the fun continues.
The main reason for the success of Golmaal 3 is its writers. They did a fantastic job. Even though it is a mindless film, they tried to create some sense out of the nonsense. Dialogue writers did a funtabulous job - Skip a beat, you miss a treat. Direction by Rohit Shetty is much better. Thankfully, the director kept aside the double meaning way of fun. The film never goes to a vulgar territory (though there are indirect suggestions at places) to make it as a complete family entertainer.
Ajay Devgan makes another film mark with Golmaal 3 and the actor just rock the show. The serious look helps a lot and his presence is felt than ever before. Ajay Devgan fans have a lot to celebrate where the year seems a super success for him. Kareena Kapoor brings another lively performance with all the pleasantness and chill. Tushar Kapoor did his dumb act well, whenever the writers give him a chance. Good! Arshad Warsi, Kunal Kemu & Shreyas Talpade impress but the characters are less defined and could do anything extra ordinary. They are just ok. Mithun Chakraborthy and Ratna Pathak did their roles well. With the support of writers, Johny Lever made his presence felt. All other cast did their role well.
Music of the film is adequate, nothing great. Colourful choreography helps to keep the tempo and the mood for the film.
Bright and lively, cinematography is excellent.
Editing is good, but a trimming of 5 to 10 minutes would have been better.
If you are yet to watch the movie, give a second look at the costumes and look at the colour and pattern of it....look at the colours of walls, cars....each frames with colours and more colours. They said Diwali is a festival of lights and sound. With Golmaal 3, it bring a lot of colours too.
On the negative side, The Ajay Degan gang is over powered where as Arshad Warsi gang is over crowded but without author backing. It may be a good idea to bring a new gang leader to catch up with the powerful macho Ajay Devgan. The fights between the gangs are over extended in the second half, even after the path is set for compromise. Bringing Mithun Chakraborthy in between the gang fight was unwarrented. Character creation for Kunal, Shreyas & Arshad Warsi could have been better. The Kaminey reference to Shahid Kapoor could have been avoided as well, even if it is purely intended for fun, especially when Kareena is involved in the scene.
Creating comedy is not easy. Making a throughout comedy film is not at all easy. Golmaal 3 succeeds passing these tests. The movie is getting very good opinion from all kind of audience. Boys or girls, take children along with you to the theatre and let them have a blast too with you.
