I read Gone With The Wind in our language when I was in high school, after years I saw the film although there was no caption at all, it attracted me as first time I touched the novel. So, 4 years before when the original version appeared in book-city, I bought up one.
I found that when I reread the novel, my view changed a lot. First, I once thought Ashley was a caitiff and there was no reason Scarlett fell in love with him. And I looked down upon him deeply. Second, I considered Melanie an unwanted person due to Scarlett couldn’t have Ashley’s love because of her. In short, I liked Scarlett and Rhett very much and could not bear anything opposite to them. I don’t think like that anymore.
Still I love Scarlett and Rhett, but I can understand why Rhett respected and admired Melanie, I can understand why Ashley was a dreamer preferred to be alone in his world of books and poetry. I understood why he loved old days.
I read several pages a time while I’m at home, my limited reading skill made me feel tired. It’s not like novels in my own language once I started couldn’t stop till finish each page. If you are not native English speaker, I recommend you read this book Gone With The Wind which written by Margaret Mitchell. Her style of writing is easy to understand and plot is ravishing.
