Today I came across a query put up by an old person of 75 years who after discharging his all dueties, was passing thru his life of depression and aloofness. This led me to think, analyse and put up a review to our loving and caring readers.
I am not going to pass comment on what facilities our senior citizens are getting in Railway/Air fare or separate Q for them, or additional 1% interest rate on their bank deposits.
For me it is more worthy, if one see an old person who want to cross the road but dare not to do so for the fear of fast driven traffic. If that person with love and caring help him to cross the road, puts himself in the right perspective.I am in the middle age of the life span so had seen my first inning and after 7 years I will gracefully retire from the job and start my next inning.
So I was talking about their depression and boring life after their retirement from the job.First six months are those when the senior citizen finds himself busy in settlement of pension, gratuty and PF. But this is also the period when he remembers his old days when he was holding a position in a particular department. Many a times he might have hold the position of money and power like IAS, IPS, IFS, PCS, IRS, Higher Judiciary Service, Professors, Media personalities etc, where on his single blink of eye, his desired orders were followed upto his entire satisfaction.
And alas what happens when very next day when he gets up in the morning and finds that he has no such power in his hand.
This is the point which makes him dissatisfied and coming out from that orbit of power money takes time when he really realizes that he is not a part of that machinery. Professionals like Doctors, CA, ICWA or CS find no difference and engages themselvesas private practioners..
Most souring problem occurs where the retired person had no professional field in his office but they can assess their capabilities and I am not going to accept that any retired person had no specialisation.
Even if , he had knowledge of his department and prevailing corruption, he can help those persons who are suffering from red tapism or bribe demands. He can get prepare an application under Right To Information Act. I know the moment the application is filed, the concerned department comes in full swing and work done.
I was most surprised when I got a comment from Mr.Vinod Jain(vmshut-mouthshut id) an old person who appeared of the age of around 70 years or say cousin, an American National.
These are the persons who share their experiences and we read and accept their thoughts, pay value with full honour.
I know my elder elder Brother in Law who is at the age of 72. He was retired as Princial of a Inter College but he had very good command of legal cases of teachers which he acquired during his teaching profession. Now he helps the victim teachers, who come to him for expert advices and cases preparation. He is busy and do not get enough time from his family members. So may be the case if a person is retired from any Taxation Department. He can be very useful if he goes for private practice and engages himself for preparation of tax assessment, review petition.
By keeping himself busy in any field a senior citizen will earn respect from his family members, society and specially if he earns by any profession, special treatment will also await him in his family.
The above lines were regarding professional sengagements , but many persons despite earning lots of money, power prior to their retirement, also gets HIgh B.P. Diebetes, Coronory Artery Diseases or Asthama etc and many a times suffers. For those people I wish to get them well soon. Many of the diseases are due to ageing. When once I went to Doctors for my survical spondelitis, he said Mr Sharma you are 54 years old so you cant feel as good as a person between age group of 25-35 years. This is due to ageing factor. I agreed and done some physio exercises and cured and now I am fit.
Good Morning Walk of aged people, chatting with each other in a nice mood, laughing loudly and sharing their good experiences as well as bad ones is a common sight. If you get up in the morning and go to garden, streets, you will find them as I did many a times. These are the people who are leading their life in full swing and will always enjoy their second innings.
With full respect to our players of their second inning of their life, I too prepare myself bit earlier to be more positve, optimistic and more energetic to start my second inning when time comes, with the blessing of my senior players.
