It seems like a joke.Becoming rich by helping folks.What are you running, a charity.Charities survive on alms acquired from rich people.But then this has actually happened.Started as ’BackRub’ at Stanford in 1996 Google is a search engine.Or let’s say its ’the’ search engine.Googling is now a generic term.Its basis is a technology called page ranking.Google did not invent this technique.It merely used it.Before this most search engines displayed results based on the number of views.
Google founders Larry Page and Sergei Brin used Page Ranking which ranks sites based on the number of links they have to other sites and pages.What makes google a very different company is that they do not fleece unsuspecting people to get rich.Their revenues are almost entirely derived from advertising.And they do this with such finesse that they are now a rival to software giants Microsoft.I believe that google is a different kind of company.They give importance to being of help to their users.Look at their site.It looks very plain, quite simple.You will find none of the high decibel and colouful advertising that is associated with say Microsoft product launches.Each time Bill Gates brings out something new they create a mad frenzy forcing common folks to buy.This is kind of missing with Google.They are clever business people but they certainly are not corrupt and inefficient.
They do not force people to buy worthless products like Windows Vista and push them into chaos.
