Having used countless search engines, I find Google.com, out there in a league of its own.
Well what are the most important things to decide the best Search Engine?
I personally go for pure results and speed of the search, and I find “Google.com” in a league of its own on both of these fronts.

Why is “Google” better than the rest?
Its simple, rather than search through various things like meta tagging and page descriptions, like what other search engines do, “Google” actually scans through the whole pages of any sites submitted, looking for the Keywords that you are searching for, and believe me, it finds literary thousands of results of possible links, its simple but very effective and is especially useful, if you are searching for an obscure word.
Speed of Search:
Google is unbelievably fast, considering the vast amount of results you get, I find it astonishing the way it gets your results so quickly, you enter your Keywords you desire, and within a couple of seconds you have your results, unlike other Search Engines, that can take ages, only to give you a list of obscure links, that don’t even contain the word or words that you are looking for.
Another thing I really like about “Google” is, you don’t get countless commercial sites in your results, as there is nothing more annoying than searching for a certain subject, only to get an endless list of results of sites where you can buy the item you are looking for, like Amazon and various Auction sites.
The only slight downside to”Google” is, it is not very effective at finding a string of text or answering a question like Ask Jeeves does, as it merely searches for the Keywords you desire and gives you the results in any order that they appear on their respective sites, but this is only a minor drawback, as the majority of the time people actually search the internet, they are only searching for the one or two word entries, to which “Google” does very effectively.
In my opinion, the reason why “Google” is so effective, is because it concentrates on being just what it is, A Search Engine, and unlike other Search Engines like Excite, Yahoo, Alta Vista, etc, it does not try and be a community page with links for Games, Weather, etc, and there are very few adverts on “Google”, which helps speed things up.
So if you are forever cursing your search engines, for taking an age to get you results and then giving you an endless list of various Auction or Commercial sites in your results, then try “Google”, it may look plain and not as well presented as other Search Engines, but like me, you’ll be totally amazed at the results it gets and how quick it really is.
