Gori Tere Pyar Mein*1/2: A flamboyant urban south Indian chokra Sriram falls (Imran) for a fiery NGO type Punjabi chori Kareena(Dia) with her heart in the right place. But will he finally be able tobridge the gap between their distinct priorities and beliefs?
While you mustve already guessed what happens at last, director Puneet Malhotra takes an excruciatingly long 2.5 hours to come to that. In those never-ending hours, theres a south Indian shaadi, familial characters, a supportive Shradha Kapoor, some funny lines, a few fleeting moments along with utter lack of any visible chemistry between the dashing Dude bhai and the glamorous Gori Ben.
Despite honest performances, you dont feel any emotional connect for any characters whatsoever (moto ghotalo). Story travels from urban to rural in the second half, but sadly the films progress is little.
On paper, GTPM wouldve made perfect sense with scope for communal stereotypes, luv shuv pyaar vyaar, village belles, bas and bapus and chichora songs like dil duffer, but dhat teri ki, this jhumli gaanv ka jhamela is easily passable, chingam chaba ke!
