Due to Wrong treated a woman dead in GGH,Kakinada

Due to wrong Medical treatment was reported death of a woman at Government General Hospital(GGH), Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. This incident happened on November 26, 2024,


Instead of the required’O-ve group report, a house surgeon transfused the’AB+ve. Sirisha died due to the medical treatment negligence of the surgeon.


She suffered from a kidney problem for up to three years and was treated at a private hospital.


On Nov 4, 2024, she was admitted to GGH, Kakinada for the best treatment. Due to low haemoglobin levels, the GGH doctors had advised a blood transfusion of the’O’+ve’ group.


After the relatives had provided the necessary blood samples to the hospital’s blood bank,


On Nov 26, 2024, the House Surgeon on duty brought the blood from the bank and began transfusion.


The dead’s mother Devadatla said "When the house surgeon on duty began the transfusion, one of the relatives noticed the blood group on the packet as AB+ ve. Instead of answering the queries of relatives, they quipped, "Don’t I know. Are you telling me?"


At this time the patient is breathless. Immediately’AB+ve’ blood was removed, but her condition deteriorated, despite efforts to stabilize her condition Sirisha died on the morning of Wednesday.


Speaking to News Covers Kakinada, GGH superintendent Dr Lavanya Kumari said, "The house surgeon mistakenly transfused the wrong blood type, and we will take action based on the investigation”.


Compensation for Incident:


This incident was immediately reported to the Health Minister. The government offered compensation to the family. Dr Lavanya Kumari handed over compensation of a 3 lakh cheque and assured the family of a thorough investigation.
