This was in 2012 when I was a newly graduated Computer Engineer and was looking for a job. I was interviewed by one technical guy who asked me basic questions and then was followed by a HR interview. Before the interview they made us sign some form. The form was the first read flag to me. Anyone will say that such forms are not contracts so they dont have importance.
The form mentioned that there will be probation period and during that time employee is supposed to arrive on time(sounds usual) . However, it also mentioned that you maybe expected to stay around longer if there is requirement. Failing to satisfy the organization requirements can lead to termination of probation period. The basis for this can be even the work hours etc.
All this may sound like a normal recruitment paperwork but the real surprise was when during the face to face HR interview with Poonam she mentioned that as a security I will have to give 50000 Rs, that to in two cheques of 25000 Rs.(BIG RED FLAG) If I complete my probation, this money will be returned to me. HOWEVER, if I am fired before probation completes they will keep my money(BIG DEEP RED FLAG). And to top that they were going to pay me 10000 Rs salary which is low for an engineering graduate. And the way the terms and conditions were set it is very easy for them to fire me on probation because they might ask me to stay till 11-12 at night and If I refuse they can fire me.
So basically, I think they are trying to fool freshers and those people who are desperate for a job(like I was, and many others) and dont bother about the fine print. So anyone please refrain from such companies which ask security deposits and all. The HR might speak very sweetly, dont get carried away by that. I was like 65% convinced to join. I thank God for the 35% which saved me.
