I had been to the Great Punjab many eons ago - a dim lit place with okayish food. At that time, I came away unimpressed. But lately my friends insisted on going to the restaurant and for once, I complied.
The changed ambience is a pleasant welcome. Colourful and bright - it tends to add spirit to the dining area. There is also a bar at the entrance for those who want to enjoy their drinks before food. However service stills needs some improvement - tends to be very very slow, especially when the restaurant is crowded.
Snacks and starters are avoidable if youre in a small group. It unnecessarily inflates the bill and you may as well start with the main course. Chicken items and some vegetarian dishes are very good. Try the Chicken Achari or Sarson da saag with Makai roti (typical Punjabi food). Its good. Also worth trying are some vegetarian dishes such as Paneer Makhani and Veg Jalfrize.
Believe it or not, they also have a low calorie section in their menu. All in all, a place worth trying at least once.
