I had taken an appointment with Dr. Kannan(Paediatric dept) for 9:00 PM today. When I reached there at 8:35 PM the receptionist told me that the name was missing from the list and she assured me that but it can be accommodated as a normal request.
They also told that the waiting time may be more as the Dr. came late as it was a real necessity, I agreed to wait and there were 4-5 more other patients whom they said the same thing. When I went back to them again at 9:30 PM, I was told I can go in as the next patient.
I was waiting near the Drs office until 9:45 PM and the Dr. just walked away. Later the people from reception came and told that he is not seeing any more patients.. So, my questions are
- When someone call the hospital and they confirm the appointment for a certain timing what more should be expected?
2. Being a Pediatrician most of his patients are children and waiting for such long duration without a purpose in a hospital is not recommended. So, more than the temporary inconvenience, this can lead to other infections...
So, wont it be prudent for the hospital staff to check with the Dr before deciding how many patients he is likely to meet?
