This restaurant stands apart from others and have to admit that it hard to find such a place especially in Bangalore South. Located on the top most floor (5th, if correct) of Hotel President, Jayanagar, Bangalore, I ventured into this place as an invitee for a dinner. The place if pretty well maintained and clean and tidy (include rest-rooms!). We all ganged up and chose this place as we wanted to experience the cave like ambience. A small lift that can accommodate not more than 4 at a time shuttles hurriedly from ground to the entrance to Gufha.
Once inside you see people dressed as forest officers busy criss-crossing the floor with dishes. The lighting is dim (), but till you settle down, watch out carefully as you might bump into another guest or the servers around! We were led to a table a bit wondering why the place was so poorly lit. We settled down and started browsing the menu list. To my surprise I found that there is very little choice for exotic vegetarian good. The floor manager proudly claims that the restaurant specializes in serving Afghan delicacies. Well off, with the starters, we were served a few fryums kind of snacks and were told that its complimentary. Well think if you want to take a second serving - as we were told its only served once.
However, somehow the waiter managed to somehow manage to give us a second serving. Well as a pure vegetarian, I did not have nothing much to chose and ended with few rotis (Indian Breads, etc) and some simple side dish and curd rice. Well, so to say for a gang of 6 adults and 3 kids, the receipt/bill turned out to be around Rs3, 500 + taxes. There are a lot of eateries to the likes of different people, especially in Jayanagar. However, if you need to chose an Upmarket restaurant in Jayanagr, then there is always the Gufha (hope I am spelling it right, all the way), the cave!
