Really a Guide...

The movie Guide produced and acted by Dev Anand, has been beautifully directed by Vijay Anand (Dev’s younger brother). Inspired by R.K. Narayan’s Novel ’’The Guide’’, this movie was produced in 2 different languages (English and Hindi).

The story is of a person ’’Raju’’ (Played by Dev Anand) who is a Guide at Udaipur. He comes across Rosy (Waheeda Rehman), a customer of his, who is not quite happy with her husband. Falls in love with the girl and she leaves her husband’s home. She starts performing dance and Raju starts organising her shows. And after years, her husband returns. Just to avoid the meeting of Rosy with her husband, Raju signes a cheque from Rosy’s account. Jailed after the episode, he turns his life to spiritually guide some people in a village far off. Guides the village people through hardships and finally dies for them.

It is a wonderfully written and directed movie, which glues you to the screen as the incidents move too fast. The movie has been beautifully shot in backdrop of Rajasthan. The photography (by Fali Mistry) and music (by S.D. Burman)(according to that era) are really incredible. Overall a must see movie.
