Mayya mayya - kya movie hai

Hi Friends, though I had heard a lot about this movie, I actually never took the initiative to go and watch it. However, yesterday a friend of mine bought the DVD and requested me to accompany him while he watches the movie. Since even I didn’t have much to do, I gave my consent to him. Initially when the movie started, I felt it’s gonna be another "biographical" story since I had heard that Guru is inspired by the life of Dhirubhai Ambani, but to mu utter surprise it progressed as a beautiful lyrical ballad or a beautiful painting painted with the colors of life.

Lets see mor eof it.Star-cast: - Mithun Chakraborty as ... Manikdas Gupta Abhishek Bachchan as ... Gurukant Desai Aishwarya Rai as ... Sujata Desai R. Madhavan as ... Shyam Saxena Vidya Balan as ... Meenakshi ’Meenu’ Saxena Arya Babbar as ... Jignesh Roshan Seth as ... Judge Mallika Sherawat as ... Jumpa (Guest Appearance) Directed by Mani Ratnam Produced by Mani Ratnam and G. Srinivasan Written by Mani RatnamVijay Krishna Acharya Music by A. R. Rahman Cinematography Rajiv Menon Editing by A. Sreekar PrasadStory.

In nut shell: -Gurukant Desai is an ambitious fellow who is sure to make it big someday in the industry. He leaves his home-town and moves to Turkey, to come back to Mumbai. He marries Sujata, just to collect funds to start his business. Anyway, Sujata, is another of her kind who runs away from home, just to be with her beloved who ditchs her the last moment. After marriage, Guru sets his empire and then there is no looking back, however, there is a paper run by Manikdas Gupta, who opposes Guru at every step but Guru won’t get shaken by the reports that appears from time to time.

And then there is case filed upon him which shakeshis whole empire, what will happen to his assets, will they be taken away by him or how will he save it even after falling sick to an extend that he can’t move his hands even.Performance: -Abhishek Bachchan: -Movie belongs to Abhishek and he deserves to be applauded for the kindof variation that he has portrayed through his sheer presence and acting skills. He really deserves to be the next superstar, though, I don’t like anybody comparing him with BigB, this time I feel proud to say that he has made his father proud.Aishwarya Rai: -She knows her caliber, its her best performance after Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

Though she doesn’t come out here as a glam doll, she rocks. Mithun Da: -He is simply mind-blowing. Though he didn’t have much to do yet he steals the frames, whenever he comes on-screen.Madhwan and Vidya: -I don’t even know as why Vidya was kept in the movie at the first place. Talented lady wasn’t utilised at all. Madhwan is promising but yet again, his role was so small even to be remembered for long.Direction: -Mani is known for taut direction and very well written script and once again he proves that nobody even comes close to him when it comes to direction. He deserves accolades.Music: -Soul stirring music by Rehman and Lyrics penned By Gulzar sahab are equally good. I can’t even think of the movie beyond "aye harat-e ashiqui" and "mayya mayya".

However, "tere bina" and "barso re" are good as well. If I say I like this soundtrack then it would be like choosing the best among the best. Trivia: -In Telugu language, it was released as Gurukanth. During a scene, Aishwarya Rai fell and had a few bruises on her hands and feet. Filming had to be suspended for a few hours while she received first aid. S. Bharathi, a lawyer in real life, plays the role of a marriage registrar in the movie. For the Tamil release of *Guru, * Tamil actor Surya Sivakumar lent his voice for Abhishek Bachchan’s character and veteran actor Nassar has voiced for Mithun Chakraborty’s character.

Actress Rohini has voiced lines for Aishwarya Rai, while Madhavan has voiced his own lines. Guru is India’s first film to have a mainstream international premiere in Canada. Director Mani Ratnam as well as two of the film’s Indian stars Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai were extended a personal invitation by the Toronto mayor David Miller.

Guru is the only movie to be shot at the premises of the famed ’Express Estates’, the 21 acre stretch in the heart of Chennai City (opp. to Spencer plaza), the home of The New Indian Express and Dinamani, as the film demanded a period look for their settings of a media house, which the old office buildings provided. Incidentally the buildings were brought down to dust weeks after the filming was over in the premises, since the Media Group moved to a shiny new location in Ambattur.
