Chetan Bhagat-a symbol of new India, who never fails in his attempt, has presented a mind-boggling love story "Half-Girlfriend". Just like before, Five Point Someone and many other versatile works, here is another sweet inspiring lovestory hailing characters named Madhav and Riya. With a very unique cover page, the author has presented an English Genre Romance piblished by Rupa and Co. The story divulges the sentiments and linguistic struggles of a backward rural Bhojpuri-laced Hindi-speaking boy from Dumrao, Bihar who enrolls himself in an English medium St. Stephens College, New Delhi on the basis of Sports quota. He meets a young, beautiful, high class English-speaking girl named Riya. Madhav has no match with this sophisticated girl coming from an affluent family. He falls in love with Riya who later on agrees to become herhalf girl-friend. This is a phenomenon in India where teenagers are not even clear about relationship status; the guy may think that the two are more than friends but the girl is still not a girlfriend. A perfect term given to the title of this book and the story continues in a smooth way. The style and presentation is very clear and lucid. Worthy to mention, a movie may complete in 2:30 hours but the book fills us with perfect feelings and expressions. With an amazing concept, one would not stop until reaching the last page of the book. The graphic visualisation add glamour and action to the plot. The entry of Bill Gates is another twist. The longing, passion, spirit and the zeal to find the heroine out from the extreme corner music bar in New York adds essence. The suspense throughout the story is maintained and finally ends with the culmination of marriage and the couple is blessed with a child, a usual happening in Bollywood. As expected and worth-deserving, the book has been converted to a movie winning award. A nice heart-warming unique lovestory would simply refresh the mind of readers. Simple and quite pacy, personally I just liked the book and would want others to buy it in an affordable reasonable price and indulge oneself in leisure time.
