::::Know yourself::::

*Knock knock! Knock knock!

Are you sad?

Feeling lonely in an island?

Do you feel that life isn’t worth living?

Do you see no future is left for you?

Are you feeling irritable or angry more than usual?

Do you lack self-confidence?

Are you having sleepless nights?

Tears are often touching your sweet cheeks and you can’t control?

Are you thinking of being alone?*

If any of the questions says “YES” to you, then my dear you are under depression. This is very normal to people and it comes under many circumstances. The incident does not matter much, the effects of depression matters most. It ruins your life, your future and your career. “Depression” generally comes under various circumstances but the key word behind it is “Failure”. If your inner self feels you have failed somewhere then you slowly go under depression. As a human being, we feel we are superior(no need to admit in front of anyone, ask your heart) and we always want to win. Thus, in a situation, if we loose, we just don’t loose but we feel strongly rejected by the World.

*The doctors say,

Depression is a medical disease, caused by a neurochemical or hormonal imbalance.

It is caused by certain styles of thinking.

It is a result of unfortunate experiences.*

If you think individually, these three reasons are so appropriate and meaningful. It is true that depression causes physical symptoms, and on rare occasions has physical causes, it is not a disease. Depression comes under different styles of thinking. A particular incident might make a person sad and down while it can just make your life topsy-turvy.

Why so? Why the same incident makes you cry and the other person just fly away?

This is because you are more emotional, sensible, honest, truthful, touchy and innocent than the other one. Generally, girls get more depressed than guys because of their biological and hormonal difference from guys. Guys tend to be depressed but they can overcome it sooner than the opposite sex. Studies show that different people react to adversity in different ways, and this leads them to be depressed or feel happy.

An unexpected shocking experience, a trauma, an event can cause depression. Whatever it is, the path leads you to an abnormal life where you feel insecured, left alone and guilty.

There are actually various ways to deal with depression but first of all you have to admit it by heart that you haven’t done anything wrong. I know how painful it is not to think about certain things. However, a dear friend says, you have to face this pain to take away the other which causes depression. I’ve a couple of ways to come out of this trauma called depression as it only takes you no “NOWHERE”. My friends, you can try them out, but first of all, please do not feel rejected and guilty. Have faith on yourself and FACE the world. Imagine yourself standing on a beach and the waves touches your feet. If a wave just take you away, it will throw you back to the shore. Then it is your turn to stand up even if there is none to give you support. Take this challenge of life and you have to achieve the success.

Cry a lot(!). Yes, cry a lot whenever you feel like. It might seem very awkward but hey…if you cry and burst your heart out, you feel relieved. You yourself will realize that after sometime tears will stop touching your cheeks.

Try to spend sometime alone, without anyone, a couple of days(not too much) and talk to yourself. Think what has happened and why? Why are you upset? Are you honest with yourself? Have you done anything that harms anyone? If not, then try to realize that you should not feel rejected and unhappy. Whatever happened has happened, you can’t alter the past. What you can do is, to make your future better.

Write a lot. I’m sure everyone writes in his/her own way, so take out a pen and paper and write whatever you feel just write them down. It can be a poem, a short story, a small article, a review or just sweet nothing…! Writing will take out your pain for sure.

Try to freak out with friends. Not with one single friend but with a small or large group with whom you can dance, sing and just loose your feet. This surely helps! But, if you don’t get the scope then try some work outs like gym, aerobics or swimming. While concentrating on doing these you will slowly overcome the pain, which disturbs you. You will forget to feel the pain for the time being, and my dear it can be magic! I understand the pain will be there but for a couple of hours you will be unconscious about it.

Read a lot. Read something that is not related to the incident, which causes you the pain. Read to lead a normal life. Read anything, which puts a smile in your face. Read.read and read…and try to smile.

Go for some shopping. Shop for yourself, your family and your dear ones. Pamper yourself by changing your dressing style, outfits and looks. Engage your mind in thoughts about your appearance, which suits you better and how you could look different. Try it and I think you will find new energy to live again.

Do some social work if possible. If you love children, spend some time with them in an orphanage or do something for the needy people. You need not share this with anyone, just do it and the happiness will reflect in your eyes.

Last but not the least, if you have a trustworthy friend, go out with him/her, enjoy an evening with a movie and a dinner may be. But, please do not discuss much about the reasons of your depression. Just talk on different issues but please do not talk on the incident, which causes pain in your eyes. A true friend can be the best help at this time. Go out with someone who loves you, cares for you and can do anything to make you happy. It will make you happy too.

Most importantly, give yourself time. Time can really be the best healer. Life does not stop for anyone. It moves on whether you want it or not. You might not forget things but slowly it will fade and it is the harsh fact. You have to accept this.

Do not let depression lead you, rather you dictate your own life. I know how it feels being in such situations, it only causes pain, lack of confidence and sometime leaving life! But, this should not ruin your life. A dear friend says, life is God, worship it. I’ll also suggest you to go by this. At least you can give it a try. To overcome something is tough, but, in order to live this beautiful life you have to bear the pain.

More you face the pain, more you will be strong. Life teaches you many things and one day you will also learn how important it is to love yourself, love your family and those who loves you. smile at the world and the world has to smile with you. Remember, we have one life and have to live it fully. Be happy and Enjoy life.
