Are you responsible for Depression? Answer it?

For all those people depressed, annoyed, sick of their life,

feeling unwanted, bored and anything negative you can think of… here I am again

to help you with something I can to. err!…. lift you up maybe!

The last two years of my life has been wonderful. So many

people of different attitudes, talent, taste, likes and dislikes have come

across me. And I must say it’s been a serious mind blowing experience.  And what I have learnt from being an introvert

once to what I now is – Hey! Why do we have to make our lives so complicated?

Just live it - Simple.

I figured out that 8 out of 10 people just love killing their

time doing – NOTHING. Now I think this is the fundamental problem for you being

bored with your own life. Yes it’s true. And this is what I found with most of

my colleagues, friends and many more. Let me give you some examples. These are

true but the names have been changed.

The Negatives – People who can but are lethargic/lazy to:

A)

Pavan Kumar(29) my roommate likes watching TV(anything

in TAMIL) the whole day on Saturdays and Sundays.  His friend Pappu(27) is of the same blend.  Both drink brandy every evening after office.

I invited Pappu once to join me to guitar class. He did come, but just for that

one class. And when the power goes off, they turn to spendthrifts. In simple

words I AM STUNNED looking at how much time they waste.

B)

Fatso my blood, has no vision in life. Live for

the day is his motto. He has got a wife and a kid. But why bother? Another distant

relation of mine Mr. Amputee had his leg amputated due to heavy drinking and

uncontrolled diabetes.

C)

8 out of 10 people I share house with while in

UK for onsite project work literally have nothing to do after they come back

from work or on Saturdays and Sundays. Well they do have – but let me tell you

the most common and easiest work they do

-

Youtube

-

Stage6.com(for movies. I think this is closed

now)

-

Orkut

-

Google Chat

-

WebCam chatting

-

Coffee(say about 8 times a day)

-

Sleep

-

Watch television.

*Positives – People who do or take small steps to enrich

their lives:*

A)

Mrs. Cute has been a wonderful person in my

life. I learnt patience, the art of adjusting to life, being simple, loving and

sharing your sorrow if you feel down from her.

B)

Mrs. Calm, she taught me just one thing – “It’s

not about others being bad to you, it’s about you being good to others that

matters the most”.

C)

Mr. Calm, I have not seen a cool, simple, focused,

sensible man like him in my life. He always hunts for something new and teaches

me what I could do to better my life.

D)

Mr. Amputee yeah the same man above taught me – “Don’t

worry about your past. It’s gone and dead. Think of the present and the future

and keep walking ahead. Now go buy me some rum”.

Now do you grab the essence of life from the positives and

negatives? Are you one of those negatives?

Guys… please. I am a professional and umpteen number of

people just hate exploring the best of life around them. They are project

managers, but they lack the spice in them. They are technically sound but not

interesting as someone from whom you can learn something.  Dedicate your time everyday doing something. What

about guitar classes, or maybe German course. How about doing a Masters from

the Dublin Institute of technology and growing my career? Shall I invest this

money in petro chemical industry and lots? Keep asking yourself such questions

and have yourself occupied all the time. You see there are so may better things

around us but we simply don’t do it. Why?

It’s difficult for anyone to force the brain to keep him/her

away from the habit of watching television and sticking to learning guitar instead

at the age of 26. But some dedication, commitment and the thirst for growth,

prosperity and better life should help you achieve it. There are so many good

things in life. For most people the situations around them don’t let them

explore more. For some, though they have the apt situation, their brains tend

to suppress them from doing something interesting. Remember, no one will help

you. People around you, true life experiences, pain, sorrow, embarrassment,

shame and everything happening around you teaches you to explore yourself and

find the best door to your future. This is life. It pushes you to find your way

out. And if you live only for that day, then I bet you are going nowhere.

It’s just a small experience of mine is here. Literally what

I feel about living a better life. I always say – “The fault is with me, and

not with others around me. My actions dictate what I am and no one is

responsible for it”. I can’t really bite more than this. To summarize…

1)

Keep learning and keep yourself occupied

2)

Don’t brood at things around you. Learn to

adjust. Go to the toilet, or lock yourself into the room in difficult

situations and cry as much as you can. Just bring the pain out. But don’t be

let down. Be optimistic and be sensible. Talk to your friend and share your

problems.

3)

If you believe in God then assume he exists. The

one best friend you could ever have. So you are not lonely anytime at all. You

can ask him anything you want. But he will only show you the direction and

leave small clues. It’s up to you to solve the puzzle.

4)

Fix yourself before you can attempt to fix

others around you. Look at yourself in the mirror and ask – “What have I

achieved today? Who am I today?”

5)

Value yourself. You have to be something. A GOOD

plumber, a GOOD programmer, a GOOD receptionist, a GOOD hair dresser or

anything. But be GOOD at it.

6)

Teach people moral values to boost your own

personality. Learn, learn and learn.

Keep yourself occupied and have depression away. If you want

to share something and you don’t have anyone around you(well you must be but

still…) just ping me here. I am no pro or guru or Pandit Ravi Shankar or Amrita

Ji; just an ordinary man with a simple lifestyle. But I can smile at problems.

I have just jumped into a pool of problems and I am still trying to come out of

it. It’s just in my blood. Keep smiling. See ya!
