Depression - a phase of life that everyone has to go through at some point in life. It’s something that tells you the importance of seeking happiness in life and ultimately achieving it.

Well they come in many shapes and sizes, some are minor ones and can disappear without hurting much. Some are however much bigger, they seem to make life come to a standstill. You’d never know that the day actually started and ended in a span of an hour. Time no longer seems to be money, it just passes without making a difference.

Hey, so much so for those feelings, these could be the result of losing a job, losing a loved one or a passing phase.

The most important thing to counter a depression is to look for a major support from yourself. Self belief is most important. If it is a loss of job, try to keep yourself still occupied with some work. Speak to people from the industry, be updated. It gives you a better chance to get a job quickly rather than cutting off ties and just trying for jobs from the newspapers. Music and other such entertainment does help. Motivational books also play a role if you are into reading.

The loss of a loved one however is a difficult one to cope. Try to be in touch with your friends, go out with them even if you don’t feel like. Being stuck at home will make you more irritating and will down your confidence.

The most important thing when facing a depression is to face it head on. Of course people around will also play a role in how you handle. Most friends or close ones will never leave you alone during bad times.

A piece of advice - handle depression well and it will be hard to come against it again.
