I'm a Hockey Player, Not A Golfer...

Happy Gilmore is a wannbe pro-hockey player who is in dire need of an anger management course. When his Grandmother’s house gets repossessed because she hadn’t paid taxes in a decade, Happy realizes his potential as a golfer and begins to compete to raise money to buy his Grandma’s house back. He wins the tournament to get him onto the PGA Tour, where he sticks out like a sore thumb. He constantly gets into fights with spectators and other golfers, falls in love with the PR Director, and even gets hit by a VW Beetle while on the green. To add to his problems, Happy angers fellow golfer Shooter McGavin, who designates the rest of the tour to upstage Happy.

Before I saw this movie, I could not stand Adam Sandler. I couldn’t even sit through the likes of Billy Madison. When someone suggested we go see it, I groaned. However, they were paying, and I was bored. We went, and I laughed my tail off!

This movie is perfect if you don’t like golf. It totally pokes fun at the ’’sport’’ in a way only Adam Sandler can pull off. If you don’t have a good sense of humor and/or are very serious about golf, this movie really isn’t for you. There’s virtually no respect for the PGA in it.

Bob Barker has a small role in this flick as well. I mean, he and Sandler have a fist fight! It’s terribly funny.
