Harry Potter...it gets better and better

Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets

I had a chance to catch the second movie of the Potter series over the weekend and all I can say is that it left me wanting more. After a long wait (for the Potter fans, you know what I am talking about), the second movie was released and it definitely lives upto more than its expectations in my humble opinion.

The performances by everyone in the movie are brilliant.Daniel Radcliffe who plays Harry Potter, Emma Watson ( Hermione Granger ), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) have all done a great job. But I think special credit should go to Rupert Grint who plays the character of Ron Weasley. As compared to the first movie, this one definitely gives him a better opportunity to portray his character better and he does it full justice. The movie overall is a lot funnier and even a lot more scarier at times. Director Chris Columbus has taken a few liberties at changing the movie slightly but it only adds to the overall plot. The original book by J. K. Rowling had been very successfully transferred into a visual delight once again by the team. What is interesting about this movie was that in comparison with the first movie ( which did not deviate from the book even slightly and spent a lot of time on characterizations and introductions) is that the Chamber of Secrets focusses a lot more on the story and the plot not having to deal with the initial requirements.

Also the subtle hints as to what might happen in the next movie (i.e. Prisoner of Azkaban) have been incorporated very nicely without giving the viewer a hint of something amiss. Overall a great movie and good way to spend a few hours at the theatre. I can go on ranting about how great this is but all I want to say is that do not miss the opportunity to see it if you get a chance and for those who haven’t seen the first one, you’ll enjoy it a lot more if you see it first. I would like end this review on the same note as I started with ...it only gets better and better...hope you enjoy it.
