Finally!I took some time off my hands to write the review of this one movie Ive been anticipating for since the year 2009 commenced. If none of you know, Im a huge HP fan, having ardently followed both the book & movie versions.I managed to watch this at the second day-first show along with my friend & I dare say, the film fulfilled all my expectations I carried for this sixth books film interpretation.
London is in turmoil! Not just the city, but the muggle residents are being terrorised by Death Eaters.Lucius Malfoy(Jason Issacs appears very brifely) is being questioned by the Ministry of Magic.Harry Potter(Daniel Radcliffe) is touted to be the one.So reads the headlines of The Daily Prophet.Amidst all this, a new school year is beginning at Hogwarts.Professor Dumbledore(Sir Michael Gambon) calls on Harry, who was preparing himself for a special night and requests him to come on a short trip. They make their way to Horace Slughorns(Jim Broadbent) house, where Dumbledore tries his best to persuade Slughorn to accept the Potions Master teacher vacancy at Hogwarts. At Diagon Alley, the entire place is filled with rummage left behind by Death Eater attacks.Only Fred and George Weasley(James and Oliver Phelps) are enjoying the success of their Joke Shop.On the other hand, Draco Malfoy(Tom Felton) is upto something fishy.Back at school, Severus Snape(Alan Rickman) has taken over the post of Defence Against the Dark Arts, something he has been yearning for since he joint Hogwarts.Harrys feeling awkward around Ginny Weasley(Bonnie Wright) and hes noticing stuff about her that her brothers best friend isnt supposed to at all!Hermione Granger(Emma Watson) has got a new admirer and shes not too thrilled about it.As for Ron Weasley(Rupert Grint), hes getting undivided attention from Lavender Brown(Jessie Cave) who seems pretty weird to him. Also, Hermione and Harry learn to deal with jealousy in their new semester.Luna Lovegood(Evanna Lynch) is her own sweet self.Meanwhile much to Hermiones shock, Harry is the best student at Potions.Harry discloses to Ron & Hermione that an old book by the Half Blood Prince is guiding him to perform better.Indeed, Harry and his friends will have to deal with a lot this year at Hogwarts.
The acting is great.Everyone is upto the mark. The plots changed a bit from the book, but it works well with the film.It annoys me when a film is the exact copy of a book.In this case, even those who havent read the book will be able to follow the story.Unfortunately we dont see much of Neville Longbottom(Matthew Lewis). But his witty lines make him memorable inspite of his short screen time.
Final grade- A+ , Im an HP addict. If you arent maybe you wont find the film as fascinating as I did.
