Hi all,
I would like to share my latest experience with you. Its called dining at haveli. On my trip to Amritsar from gurgaon. I was looking for good hygienic place for breakfast, when my wife declared dont stop at any roadside dhaba because because their toilets are not clean (if only they have ). Then I decided to stop at lilly resorts near Jallandhar, because that was only place I could think which would meet my better half’s requirements, but I was missing my Paranthas and white makkhan (Butter). Which we usally get in roadside dhabha.(On this trip one funny or tech savvy name for a dhabha whih I spotted was Dal Roti .com. Really India has a net savvy citizens ). But just before lilly resorts I spotted Haveli immediately decided to take risk and took U turn. Momement I pakrd my car there I was sure I was risk worth taking.
Coming first to Toilets, They were clean in fact better than some of the toilets I have seen in five star Hotels.
Decor at the outside was good. With a well and rope to give village touch. 6 footers darbans greet you with a warm Sat Shree Akal.As soon as you enter a big Truck welcomes you. Interiors portray typical Punjab, again decor far better than what we have many restaurants in Delhi or Gurgaon which try to give you feel of Punjab.
So Staff is warm, Ambiance good now lets check out food. As it was Breakfast time we ordered 1mool prantha, 2 gobhi prantha, 1 Dal wala Prantha. It came with Dal, Butter, Dahi and Tea as Combo. and Idly Sambhar for our Little one ( Imagine eating south Indian cuisine in Heartland of Punjab that too in highway eatery. National Integration at its Best!!!!). Food was a Gastronomical Delight. We had our Hearfill and got my white butter and loads of it.
Now guys hold your breath payment time. I was shocked to see the bill. I couldn’t believe my Eyes
It was Rs 112 yes rupees one hundred and twelve only. That is dirt cheap. For all the decor and Facilities. Now I know why it was voted as best Highway eatery by India Today in its oct 2006 edition
So friends if you are on NH 1 you know where to stop. One last thing it is only vegetarian. and as thay very proudly say Haveli doesnt have any branches in India or Abroad.
Thats all friends
Take Care and Drive Safe
