Koooo...”Hawkins ki sitti baji …“...remember something from your childhood days…yes...it says food is ready to eat. This Pressure-cooking is very much famous and common in India especially when foreign restaurants and their foods becoming so much popular. And these packed food don’t require this Cooker instead just put them in Oven for few minutes and its ready to eat. Still amazingly you shall find maximum 2 Pressure Cookers in household of different sizes. It may be because of the typical and prevalent Indian food.


The basic principle behind Pressurized Cooking is increase the atmospheric pressure (here in this case pressure inside the vessel) the temperature at which liquid boils can be raised accordingly. The food that being cooked and liquid with which we are cooking (water) are kept in the vessel. The steam that generates goes freely away in the normal pans is controlled in Cooker using Regulator so pressure increases hence temperature. This controlled steam passes through the material inside and we get the desired result.


Yes I too have the above one Hawkins Pressure Cooker , may be I bought because of their name in the market. It is not so much different compared to the other ones in the market today may be it is different in terms of the metal and alloy they uses. But after all the component are the same like Vent Tube through which steam passes, Body Handle, Rubber Gasket, Regulator(Sitti!) and Stub. Those who are reading this review and Software Developers by profession don’t get confused with this Stub, it is not the one they’ ve in COM Technologies along with stub, proxies and marshalling of parameters!!! I don’t know why do they call it as stub but you know what Humpty – Dumpty said, “When I use a word it means just what I choose it to mean, neither more nor less”. Ha Ha Ha… anyways let it be.


The body of this cooker (lower part) is made up of aluminum alloy polished from inside and outside. To cover this we ‘ve Lidwhich has to be leak proof otherwise the whole purpose of pressurized cooking defeats. The Regulator that emits the steam and makes whistling noise lifts off only when inside pressure in +15lbs.This regulator placed on Vent tube, which passes the steam from inside. Safety Valve is very important component , it is made up of fusible alloy, which melts to let off the steam when no water inside the cooker. We should not tamper with this valve by filling some material inside because it shall be dangerous for cooker. The Rubber Gasket forms the complete seal. The company provides extra gasket along with Grid which is perforated to rest at the bottom of vessel.


At last the free lifetime service along with the extra Safety valve, Gasket cost goes up to


Rs.1000-1200.So be healthy using Hawkins Cooker at you home and have good synthesized food.
