HAWK-INS that’s how I would like to call it. Hawks are known for their presence of mind and awareness. The first cooker in the family was purchased sometime during 1981. It was Prestige. It did serve but gasket is the greatest problem even today. I was posted at Jorhat, assam and in the year 1989 I was recommended Hawkins pressure cooker and I purchased one then. For over 12 years it is there with me. From the days of bachelorhood to fullfledged family life, it has accompanied me like a faithful follower. I have changed the gasket 4 times and the safety valve 3 times in these 12 years. The instructions booklet is extensive and very clear. It states that avoid high flame should be avoided after the weight is put on. This way, the items are cooked well but not overcooked, the nutritional value of the items is well preserved, fuel is saved and the life of the cooker is prolonged. I am more than convinced that cooking with Hawkins is quite easy and totally hassle-free. There are no hassles of leakage of steam etc. Closing the lid is quite easy. With this sweet experience, I purchased Hawkins cooker of a higher capacity a year ago. It is only with regard to the separators some difficulties were faced i.e. no spare separators were available in market. It is suggested that Hawkins may come out with separators - 1) one single container with/without lid that fits the cooker - this will enable cooking of large quantity of a single item in one go. This is required during festivals etc. when a number of guests are invited. 2) Standard separators made from stainless steel. These may be optional and made available at a reasonable price. My second cooker has also served me very well. At one point of time, having yielded to the temptations of a new cooker, I thought of going for an exchange offer. But I was told that my 12 year old cooker is in a very good condition and is as good as a new one. Can any one dream of a better way of life? Hawkins brand name has established itself very deep. Though other brands are there and are attempting to overtake Hawkins, due to their inherent designs they cannot overtake Hawkins. My best wishes to Hawkins. Are the HAWKS watching?
