My relationship with HDFC Bank started with my first job. We all were asked to open an account there for them to credit our salary, I was quite happy to learn that I will have an account with HDFC(had heard good comments on their services).
As time passed I started using their other services apart from only net and phone banking.
One fine day I got a call from their call centre offering me a credit card. I was again delighted thinking I had grown in stature now that I will be owning a credit card( I always used to ask my dad to get me one). After much hassle( had applied for a gold credit card but got a "value plus") I got my credit card and started using it.
One fine afternoon this year I got my credit card bill. Much to my astonishment I saw that I have been charged an amount for which I did not use my card. It said that I had gone to some restraunt called "China Gate" which I dont know where it is. what to do next?
I straight away called up HDFC phone banking services and they politely gave me the credit card division number. On calling them they asked me to send a fax to certain number that I disagree with the statement they have sent me. They said they will investigate on this and get back to me within 45 days. I did not hear them for atleast 2 months after this. I then thought that I had won my battle and I was not supposed to pay anything. Somethings happen when you least expect them to. 62 days later I got a new statement saying that the charges have been revised and I had to pay Rs.16 less(@!$#) along with the bill(machine generated on purchase) dont know from where?. Gr8 isnt it. I do not know what sort of investigation was in progress during those 2 months. Finally, I had to pay the bill because my mom insisted me to(she felt it is a crime not to pay the credi card bill and the bank will sue me if not paid [:-)]).
To sum it up, I am not quite happy with the service provided by the HDFC BANK credit card division even though HDFC being one of the best in business today.
