I have been banking with HDFC Bank for more than five years. When I wanted a loan against LIC policy and RBI bonds, the other banks did not show any interest. HDFC Bank sent a representative to my house and I got the loan without visiting the branch. In fact I have not been to the branch at all.
The loan against securities is controlled from Mumbai. So if you apply for the loan it takes about 15 days before you can draw. Their phone banking is excellent. You are able to find the balance in your account from any city in India. I had sent them a couple of Emila through their web site seeking clarifications. I received the reply within 48 hours.
I am now a depositor in the Bank. Though the Bank offered to send a representative to my house, I went over to the branch. I found the service to be excellent.
