Had I read some of the reviews about HDFC ergo, I would have never gone car insurance with HDFC. Finally Insurance is becoming a game of negotiation and opportunity for Insurance Companies( atleast for HDFC ergo) . If your Car is new and premium is high they will entertain else they will find thousand reasons to reject your claims.
I raised a claim after 2 months of a small accident I had with my Car. After I submitted the claim the questions were "The reason of the claim in not clear" and "what is the reason of such a delay". when I explained that I was busy and had few trips abroad due to business reasons. They wanted proofs that I was away for the entire period. which is ridiculous
Next They told me that my car is now 7-8 years old and the premium is low hence there is a reason why there are so many questions.
It looked that for a damage repair of 3 thousand rupees where I was expected to pay 1, 500 anyways it is too much of a hassle to convenience them and when they are standing with the attitude to reject no matter what evidence you produce.
I have now decided to get the repair work myself, it is much cheaper when you pay and negotiate rather than to run behind these insurance co like HDFC ERGO
