My home loan experience with HDFC has been anything but satisfactory. I initiated the full pre-payment of my home loan. The HDFC bank manager told me about the total amount that I needed to pay. I couriered the cheque to my relative to be deposited in the bank(with the amount as instructed) as I was outstation. The full pre-payment amount was deposited dated 1-Oct-2020. I kept following up with the bank manager for 2 weeks as the cheque wasn’t presented but was told I had nothing to worry. Eventually the amount got deducted from my account but it wasn’t reflecting in my online account. I was told it will take 7-10 business days to reflect in my online HDFC account. I realized that my online account was showing some outstanding amount(even after full pre-payment as instructed). I was told their was a clerical error by HDFC & was told to make the payment to resolve this issue. I was very frustrated & disappointed but wanted this ordeal to end so I made the payment hoping this will close this matter. To my horror, today I see another outstanding amount. I guess this is how HDFC squeezes money from it’s customer(so shall I say ex-customers) in the guise of CLERICAL error. Please avoid them at all cost.
