I had applied for online click to protect policy. I had clearly mentioned in my policy application of being hypertensive.
On review, no one from HDFC life for two months told me that the premium is going to change. Importantly, they asked me to undergo a medical tests at MY OWN COST stating both verbally from customer call officer calls and also written in emails from customer care that my medical testing cost would be refunded.
After they tests, they ask me for increased premium stating hypertension. When I objected as I had furnished the information well in advance and nothing new that they state, they asked me to reject the policy, which I did.
Despite the written email from HDFC life that my medical costs would be refunded, they are now telling me that my medical costs would not be refunded. I have complained about the same on three occasions to them, talked to number of customer care officers but all I get to hear is that we are sorry for inconvenience and my issue would be addressed. It is never addressed.
In fact, on calling the customer care, I have paid nearly half the money I have spent on my medical testing. They are cheats. I have approached IRDA now for this, lets see what comes up with it next. I will not stop there, if need be going to go to consumer court for the same.
