Do not subscribe to HeadHonchos

Head Honchos(HH) supposedly a sister concern of ABC consultants is completely useless for the following reasons. I’m a platinum member, paid the highest paid membership and learnt/experienced the following.

  • HeahHonchos is just a job aggregation portal. A Platinum member is supposed to see’unpublished’ jobs which will make you believe that the senior recruiters there will get you the unadvertised jobs. However that’s not the case. What they mean by unpublished are those ads that are sourced from ABC consultants.

  • A dedicated advisor. My dedicated advisor was a very inexperienced person and she left in about 2 months after she took my case. She told me that when she applies for me, all that she does is hit the’Apply’ button on the job portal. HH hopes that the employer will see that a platinum member has applied and correlate it with how serious he is about job hunting and therefore give him prefered interviews. Or so the story goes.

In reality if the job appears in the portal, the candidate has the same chance as getting the eye balls of the employer as it would if the’dedicated HH consultant’ does it.

  • Contrary to how senior and C level recruitment goes, there is really no intimate relationships established between company heads and HH. So there is no power of networking. You are as networked as the job portal allows you to:-)

  • I don’t now what’s the model that drives in or drives away jobs into and out of the portal. I see fewer jobs in HH portal than say, Naukri. For example, I was being followed up for a Microsoft senior job that wasn’t anywhere on HH.

  • The cherry on the cake. The’hand picked’ mail and the’Priority Job’ mailers are computer generated, algorithm and key word based. So once in a while I have got ship building jobs which is not related to my job or education.

Moral: Don’t buy HH membership.
