Hi everyone
I bought this Hero Honda Splendor+ last year. I had considered buying a number of other bikes along with that, one of them being the CBZ*. Someone told me that the CBZ* was going to be phased out soon and something new was coming up!! After a 1-year long wait, we see the picture of Mr. Munjal on the Hindu newspaper posing with the "CBZ X-treme"!! What a loss!!
Initially I considered upgrading the Splendor+ to a CBZ, but one look at the "all-new" CBZ has changed my mind completely!! I have lost my entire trust in Hero Honda. After deliberating for 1 year on what to do to win back the 150cc+ segment, they bring this thing which Im sure is bound for a turn-turtle.
For a start, there are the looks. One look and the bike actually was screaming to me: "Im not CBZ, Im Achiever!!" Every biking citizen of India knows that the Achiever was Hero Hondas worst undoing in 2005-06.
There should be no guesses about this: it is understood that the ENGINE is the Honda Unicorn engine with a few added tweaks here and there. The bike hasnt even touched the earth, and I can tell you the power will NOT be more than 13.x bhp. And for 1 year of R&D, thats a @#$% shame.
Who cares about the mileage? Hero Honda could have had the Achiever and the CBZ playing side-by-side. Let Achiever be the "mileage-cum-power" champion. But let CBZ be the "Raw power" guy. Ill bet anything that mileage and power is the same for both.
Bajaj has made the right move. They have changed the "all 5 down" gear system of the Pulsar to "1-down rest-up". So Im seriously thinking of going for the Pulsar 150. I thought the P180 would be good, but P150 with up-gears would be the way to go.
Let the thing come on the roads and let us see what is the ACTUAL power. If it is 14+ bhp things might change. But in case it doesnt, THIS THING IS CONDEMNED.
