I have purchased a brand new Hero Honda Glamour 125 cc. in the month of April this year, that is 2008. I am a school teacher and to go to my school I ride this bike everyday for almost 40 kms. In this 40 kms., 8 kms. of road condition is extremely bad and beyond any description.
Actually, it is a muddy and broken road made up of soil and occasional brickbats here and there. Since it is a village road in the most interior part of West Bengal, India, I am not sure when this road will be repaired. Now, coming to my main discussion, I get a very poor mileage of only 40-45 kms. per litre.
I use xtra premium petrol popularly known as power. Since only the first free servicing is done, my colleagues say that my bike will give more after 3rd and 4th free servicing. Inspite of this, the bike that Hero Honda Glamour is just stunning!! People look at me in envious way when I ride it and when I ride it in high roads at a steady speed of 70-80 kms/hr and cross Bajaj Discover or Platina and other Hero Honda 97 or 100 cc bikes, I get an ace touch.
The bike is remarkably smooth in higher gears and the shifting of gears is very easy unlike CBZ Extreme and Hunk which has one down and four up lever system. The engine sound is also smooth. I never opted for the disc brake option since that is very risky in our place. If the front wheel gets locked due to front brake lever engagement, it may be proved very very dangerous. The only drawback that I have found in it is not in the bike but in the road. I can not operate at more that 2nd or 3rd gears in the last 8 kms. of road to my school and as a result I get very poor oil service that drains my pocket very much. People suggested me to buy Bajaj Byke or Xcd but I prefer only Hero Honda. If any one has any suggestions please share with me. Thanks....
