Glamour, a not so glamorous bike

Glamour, I feel , is a 125cc bike that does not really go well with its name. Before coming to a description of this statement I would like the reader to know that I myself have been suffering with this bike for the last 2years after my unexplanatory decision to buy particularly this bike in sept 2006 . Initially its smoothness at higher speeds did draw me towards it, but the problems that came along like the hardest ever seen gears, the engine sound(seems more like an exhausted engine one ) kept pushing me towards other bikes . By first hearing the name of the bike one should expect atleast a decent element of style from the makers but likewise its mileage it disappoints in the "looks" department too.

Although the headlamp does give it a respectable rating initially but as one goes round the bike, its simplest instrument cluster and the ever bulging exhaust pipe does not even qualify it as contender for style rating and of course not to mention about its typical not so flashy tail lamp.

All in all talking about its looks nothing new can be seen apart from blending colour body graphics, in the era when digital instrument cluster is getting common .Talking about its 125cc engine tht pumps 9bhp power , delivers a power enough to satisfy a 125cc mindset . Good throttle response , handling is smooth, comfortable ride, suitable for long run .The only problem I face is during decelerating, the gears prove to be real hard when shifting from

1st to neutral gear . Now I believe the performance talks of a vehicle are not over without the mileage talks . Mileage is, one area where the bike performs very very bad, I got mine checked at almost 3-4 herohonda service stations, tried riding at high speed , low speeds , lowest speeds(40kmph) but all my efforts in vain . Because no matter what I never see it delivering a mileage no more than 47kmpl and sometimes it dropped to a real low of 40kmpl, now this is not expected from a 125cc segment bike . Pissed off with its mileage I even got its engine shafts and valves changed(That were in warranty, upon a suggestion from a mechanic at authorised service centre) but no better did it prove for me .So people out there, get one thing clear about this bike , although it may take you to huge speeds of even 95kmph very easily(high enough for 125cc) but when you finally landup at filling station you will also have to spend huge amounts to get it refilled.

Before I end up...let me highlight its key points

Pros:

  • smooth and comfortable ride

  • good throttle response

  • smooth at speeds of even 90kmph

Cons :

  • simple not so elegant looks

  • real bad mileage

  • very hard gears

Now, people I have done my bits , my experience with the bike , i would like to know how far of a help was this review to you guys.
