I had purchased a HH Hunk bike in Goa in September ‘09. This is my first bike. It has completed 3200 kms( 5 months, 17 days old). The bike is great, pickup is amazing and everyone who has sat on my bike has complemented me about the comfort of the ride. The suspension is awesome and cornering is a delight.
Now, about some of the problems:
Soon after purchase, I found a ’knocking’ sound coming from the rear drum brake. This problem was rectified at the first servicing by changing the brake shoe (for free). However, when I checked my mileage after the first servicing, I found that the bike was giving me just 40 kmpl when riding my bike between 50 to 60 kmph, and only 35 kmpl when my bike was ridden at speeds between 60 to 85 kmph. (I rode at 100 to 109 kmph only thrice, and both the times, the stretch of road was approx 2 kms). At my second servicing, I informed hero Honda about these figures. They only checked the spark plug and said that everything was fine and that I should recheck my calculations. After the servicing, I found that at 50 to 60 kmph, I get a mileage of 42kmpl and when I checked for riding beyond 60 kmph, the figure was 35 kmpl. Note that about 35% of my running is in the city(upto 45 kmph).
Please advise me on reasons for these poor figures and steps I can take to improve the dissatisfying mileage figures. I expect the the bike should give a minimal mileage of 45 kmpl in city and 50 kmpl on highways. Please advise as soon as possible.
