HUNK - my BULL (without the LET)

I Just bought a 2009 All New Hero Honda Hunk.and am I floored.here is my first review on this bike. I will write a lot more, and a more detailed review after the 1000km mark.

Appearance/Looks: The main USP of this bike. Looks great from almost all angles. The rear, looks offset a bit on the older generation Hunks, but on the 2K9 version, it seems to have bee rectified a bit. Suits anyone with a large(ish) frame like mine(6ft, 94kgs, 44 inch shoulders).

HEAVY…heaviest of the 150 cc’s…feels very planted on the road at almost all speeds.

(when I went bike hunting…I tried the FZ(felt like a college brat)…, Fazer(felt the same but as if on a tourer), Unicorn(PLAIN-didn’t like it…tooo many around), GS(liked the feel but the test drive didn’t impress much)…then I went to the HH showroom…and a Hunk was out for delivery…I just sat on it and was like…WOW…this Is the bike for me…

Rating -

Acceleration: The Acceleration from the 1st gear is ok. The bike is like any other bike till you cross 3500 rpm(on any gear) and then it just zips ahead. Great bike for city driving. Out accelerates the Pulsar 150, Unicorn and GS. Great Mid range, third gear is like a car’s(my Indica)…can pull from almost 15 kmph till 60+

Rating -

Engine: Same engine as on the Unicorn and the CBZ Xtreme…slightly remapped though to deliver better performance figures than the Uni. Rode it in the city and feels superb.

Fuel Economy: Dealer quoted 50+. A friend who owns an older gen CBZ Xtreme says he gets 45-50 depending upon driving style. Have done 100 kms on my bike…will quote FE soon.

Brakes: Front disks are said to be progressive(per the brochure)…a little spongy and don’t bite like the Pulsar 150’s does…but actually great…used the disks to stop from a 50 kmph speed(blipping it initially then hard on it) and the bike didn’t skid.

Handling: Handles WAAAAAAAY better than the competition(except maybe for the Uni)…flicks through traffic.

The slightly wide handlebars do mean that you have to have enough clearance either side when going through traffic.

Highway riding is wonderful(test drive bike)…feels very planted and stable.

Price: 64K On road…

And yes.this my first report only. I will surely write updates!

Update 1 - Currently the mileage is 55kmpl. Not expecting more. First service due soon.planning to go on a 500 km trip after the first service.

No problems as of now.except the plastic shroud at the rear is kinda not fitting properly. Have asked the HH service center guys to fix it. Lets hope for the best.

Update 2: Bike has run almost 1800 kms. Did two tankful to tankful tests. The Mileage is a wonderful 46. I dont ride sanely. The bike is ripped. I normally do 80 in 4th gear. Mixed city and highway riding. Mostly with pillion(total weight on bike is 160 kgs). Top speed riding for some time as well.

It is an excellent bike!
