This is my first review of Hero Honda Hunk. I purchased mine back in July 2008. Till date Ive done 12, 000 Kms. on my bike. Its a sports red one. Man! Awesome looks! You are sure to get some approving nods and stares from complete strangers on the road. More importantly, the bike is a real pleasure to ride, be it a fairly long distance cruise on the highway or maddening city traffic. Of late, Ive done some long distance biking. In fact, I did a 500 Km. run within 30 hrs. with a pillion rider. That too on a highway whose quality is nothing to write about. God! Im sure on most other bikes you would have developed a permanent back ache. But not on this bike. As and when the conditions permitted, I touched 80-85 Kmph for sustained distances (3-4 Kms. at a stretch.) and believe me it never ever complained.
I would like to add here that my daily biking is only for a short distance (@ 8-10 Kms.) and that too through crowded city streets. The bike performs excellently even in these conditions. Only hitch is that I find the gear shift a bit too hard and going to neutral position as when stopping at a railway crossing is a pain. Another complaint I have is that the bikes headlights are not properly focussed and as such highway driving at nights are not as comfortable as they should be. The GRS is simply great and helps to improve its overall riding comfort especially when negotiating potholed roads with a pillion rider.
On the mileage front I get 45-50 Kmpl. when I do speeds over 60 on the highways, and around 55 Kmpl. when I maintain a speed of 45-55. Under city driving conditions, I get around 50 Kmpl. The stats I guess are good enough.
Overall, an excellent bike to own and ride.
Note: I cannot comment on the performance of the new versions theyve launched.
